We are introducing a new and exciting aspect to the game. Specifically we are going to include as BETA FEATURES Resources, Clan Champion Accounts, and Clan Mandates. You may have already noticed the inclusion of Clan Champion Accounts. These are dummy accounts that represent the full political and military force of your clan. The Clan Champion account will be used to gather resources for the glory of the clan. In order to make use of the Clan Champion system you will have the opportunity to gift to your Champion the resources available in the Glory Shop. Those resources will ultimately be used to close deals, join clan contests, accomplish clan mandates, and much more.
MECHANICS:
Check the Glory Shop tab "Resources" to buy items for your clan.
After purchasing the desired items, gift them to your clan's champion's account.
Using clan resources:
PM the staff in order to transfer resources to other clan champions or The Storyteller's account.
Bonus: Monthly, every clan will be awarded with its favored resource, in a rate of 50 per active player of the clan (players with at least 10 RP posts in the month). That's a good opportunity for inviting new players for your own clan, increasing its power.
Favored resource per clan:
Crab: Iron, Tea
Crane: Rice, Fish
Dragon: Gold, Iron
Lion: Copper, lumber
Mantis: Silk, Spice
Phoenix: Silver, Lumber
Scorpion: Silver, rice
Unicorn: Horses, exotic goods
CLAN MANDATES
The Champion also can be used by the Story team to deliver to a clan the CLAN MANDATES. The Champion will assign some samurai worth of his/her trust to accomplish certain delicate missions. Appropriate rewards and consummate amounts of glory will come to those able to complete such mandates.
MECHANICS:
Clan mandates are missions assigned to a single player. They'll be available to be picked in the Privates boards of each clan, but once they are picked, the player is the only responsible for task at hand. Choose well. Failing your champion may have consequences. There's no minimum amount of posts, and the reward is only awarded at the end of the mission.
Choosing your mission is simple: pick the one that best suit your abilities and interests, and PM the Staff.
Once finished, PM a report to the staff (would be nice to report to your champion as well). A player can have help of other members of his/her clan, however the reward is granted to the main player only.
How does it affect the storytelling?
In order to improve the experience, make the game more competitive and "clan-minded", those new features will be implemented in the roleplay. Earning glory points through roleplay means little when it's not used to gather political and economical power to one's clan, in a way it can be measured. We had an excellent experience with the use of Favors, however it wasn't enough. Alliances can be sealed through the exchange of items, favors and gifts, in a manner that it the exchange of power is visible and measurable.
From now on, we advise players to use the resources, gifts and favors available in the Glory Shop as part of the deals made during the roleplay. The players also will notice that many mandates and "official" activities proposed by the Storyteam will demand items in order to join.
