I don't need help to look good . I was just trying to save the Crab from themselves . A fool's errand in a court, I know.

C'mon! We were trying to respect our clan's sense of etiquette and style... err... OK, I admit. We don't have a stock of useless things around to gift-giving in court. We don't like useless things, you know? When we receive useless gifts, we throw it in either the "give it to other clan 2 years later" pile or "use it to make something useful" pile.

Hmmm well. It's MY personal Bo. I would assume it's the Bo that I've always carried. from the time I was a cool enough monk to have my own bo, through the war, through the battle in the shadowlands, through the beginning of my journey to enlightenment. It's, at least according to how I've RP'd Moeru so far, the only possession I have save my jacket, pants, and blindfold.
That's gotta be something right?

Hida Joe - "Look. I got another katana." Kuni Jill - "Throw it in the pile with those other ones the scorpion keep sending us." Hiruma Jack - "Er. Guys? What is this?" (Holds up a compass). Hida Joe - "Obviously a child's toy. Melt it down to help build more murder-clubs!" Kuni Jill and Hiruma Jack shake their heads sadly. "They're called tetsubos!"

Crab's Reeducation:
Hida Joe shows Tsudao a shining crystal sword. "Ok, Empress. You can't have that nice crystal sword. Buuuuut, we have here a rotten wrap that was SUPPOSEDLY owned by someone a thousands years ago, and we gave it to Hantei VI, his son gave us back, we gave it to Hantei 7, an Imperial sold us it back, etc etc. and to shorten the story, if yu don't mind this little stain, it's yours."

That's why Kaigen gave a materially worthless cloth amulet! After the Phoenix simply gave a lavishly produced copy of the Tao, which I carefully handwaved, to simulate Kaigen's total indifference.

We are definitely moving on with the vote on Monday. We're on a bit of a schedule, story-wise, so the brothers need to be settled before we move on. Vote Early, Vote Often.

That means nothing to me being that there is no day schedule whatsoever. Waiting for the party thread to move on so i can do the two threads that mattered in regards to that.
Edit: in fact it's pretty damn annoying. With no day structure throwing time limits on people when it took until today to reach any real conclusion on the party thread and no time to do day three threads before cutoff means you're punishing a lot of players because YOU struggled to keep with schedules.
It's rather short sighted, and puts people off playing, because it pressures people into being active more. I've been quite put off by the fact my being courteous and waiting for someone who is very busy right now irl is being basically punished.
You want to run a timed schedule, fine, but put that in from the start, and make sure you have a schedule for in character days too. Two days to one Ic day three days, four days...at least people have an idea of how long has actually surpassed. One week in rokugan is not the same as one week out of it.

Let's discuss a bit.
First of all, We did not set out to follow the patterns of AEG's winter courts. That kind of 1-1 or 2-1 posting schedule is far too grueling for a two-person story team and a casual player base who have jobs, school, and general life going on. We took a lot of our cues from Emerald Empire 1, where the action was a lot more fluid and player-initiated, affected occasionally by outside forces (in the case of EE1, it was Jay's facebook game, here it's the mandates/voting action). The fact that we even have NPCs like the Empress or the Winds is something we're still playing with and trying to hone to make things as good as possible for everyone. There's certainly a few hiccups as we try to work with the framework that we're still kind of building as we go.
With the *admittedly very basic* mechanics we've developed re: the glory shop, we're coming across new and interesting things that can affect the voting actions we have in the game so we're trying to stay ahead of it to make things more-or-less fair, because if things are more-or-less fair than people can feel like they have an effect on the story and that makes it more interesting for everyone.
Our goal is to have *something* happen once a real-life week, in order to guide the story and give people something to play off of. This isn't necessary an in-game week, or even an in-game day. Things will move at the speed of plot, more-or-less.
Now, people have taken initiative and created threads to interact with one another, which is great -- it's exactly what we wanted, in fact. We're developing mandates that can effect certain plot points, or certain other future mandates, or that can affect future voting actions in the future. It's open, because a lot of it we are waiting to see what stories point us in the right direction for our main action.
Open threads are a part of this, it lets people meet and have a reason to talk to each other. By their nature, they are a bit chaotic (multiple people posting at different times when their schedules allow) and for the most part people just have to roll with it and do their best.
(Edit) Additionally (sorry I'm writing this in off time at work) the vote depends entirely on favors, which are more or less the currency of the game. It is more symbolic of your influence on the court and, by extension, the empire at large. So long as you have glory to spend, you can effect the vote on the brothers in whatever way you see fit. There's not actually any reason to delay the vote because there's plenty of currency to go around, and it doesn't depend on any kind of IC interaction whatsoever. Deals can be made (or broken) entirely OOC via PMs, therefore there isn't any reason to delay the result and potentially invite an excess of vote inflation (something we're already trying to account for, due to people being awesome and prolific even in the first week).
Maybe this isn't what people expected when they signed on. For that I apologize, we could have been better about being clear on this in the beginning. It's impossible to please everyone, but our sole goal is to create a fun environment for people to play in and to explore some ideas we have about our alternate reality setting.

Day 3? I'm in! Unless someone is wishing to promote a ninja attack in the Crab party, we can move on, I think.
