This is a semi-open RP. I have an idea for how I want to tackle this, So all I ask is one of the following:
Roll with the idea PM me about your idea, so I can incorporate it.
The beginning is sort of an epilogue to my Communing with the Elements Closed RP
Moeru had spent the morning regaining his strength, and talking with the Tamori Shugenja, and Kitsuki Retinue that shared the Dragon's Quarters with him. They had explained the fire, and the Mirumoto Bushi apologized deeply for their intrusion, insisting they only intervened when the candle caught the rug on fire.
Moeru was gentle enough, and completely understanding of why they intervened. He spoke at length with the Tamori Shugenja about the vision that he had, and the subsequent dreams, all the while gulping down plenty of tea, and copious amounts of rice. "It seems that such an experience has left my body in a state of starvation" he quipped with a grin.
The morning was passing uneventfully, and it was the longest time that Moeru had gone without his trademark blindfold since returning to the Dragon Lands from the care of the Kuni Witch Hunters who had nursed him back to life. As the morning wore on, and the talks lessened, Shinko approached the Ise Zumi, bowed, and spoke.
"Togashi-Sama, I have your affects when you are ready." Her voice meek, and nervous. While the Samurai could explain their intervention, hers could be deemed as inexcusable.
It mattered not to Moeru, that she had intervened. He nodded his head. "Thank you Shinko-san, your care is appreciated." Moeru held out a hand, and said "If you could please, my cloth, Shinko-san."
She took the cloth from the bundle, and handed it to him. He unfolded it, refolded, and then cinched it around his eyes. "In a place like this, it's best to cover that which could turn the stomach." He said as he finished the knot.
As he picked up the bowl of rice again, a knock came at the door, catching even Moeru off guard. "It seems that in the wake of last night, I'm a little less perceptive."
Shinko slid the door open, to find 3 Seppun guardsman on the other side. They pushed by Shinko in a huff. "We must speak with the Kitsuki." The voice firm, and agitated.
Moeru stood, and and bowed. "I am Togashi Moeru, Servant of Togashi Satsu-Dono, and his personal delegate at this court. How can the Dragon assist you Seppun-san?"
The voice started again. "The matter is best left to the Samurai of the Dragon, and the Kitsuki, Togashi-san."
Moeru scowled. He was not one known for starting trouble, or being agitated, but his vision was clear to him. His champion has wished him to be here, and if Satsu-Dono wished him to be here, then it was for reasons like this.
"As Satsu-Dono's personal delegate, I believe that if it involves the Dragon Clan in anyway, it does involve me Seppun-san."
The voice sighed, and moved closer to Moeru. "Alright then Togashi-san. We have information that pertains to an assassin within the keep, and town. He has targeted several, and we have reason to believe that he has targeted the Kitsuki courtier."
The Kitsuki was entering as the Seppun spoke, and stopped mid stride at the mention of an assassin. The Mirumoto in the room stood a little taller, aware that the circumstances of duty had changed.
Moeru stood, his physical form, not as imposing as his clansmen or the guards, but his expression just a stoic. "I thank you for you bringing this matter to our attention Noble Seppun." Moeru placed his bowl of noodles on the table, and walked towards the Kitsuki. "The Mirumoto will handle security surrounding the Kitsuki. This is not debatable. Seppun-sans. If you could please, ensure that they are permitted to carry out this task unimpeded."
Moeru put his arm around the Kitsuki, and grinned. "I will not let your journey end under the avalanche, Kitsuki-san" He then gestured to the Seppun Guardsman, and continued. "Seppun-sans, I hope that you will walk me through anything you have so far. I wish to find this assassin before any peril besets another member of the court." He turned took his arm from around the Kitsuki and began moving towards the door. "Shinko-san, After the events of last night, I am in greater need of eyes today than normal." He held out his arm, "If you could please".
As Shinko grasped his arm, they moved towards the door. "I believe we are ready to depart."
One of the Seppun guards left, presumably to inform his superiors, and the other two began walking with the monk down the corridor. "We'll start in the kitchen." the gruff voice spoke. "that is the scene of the latest killing."
And from this point, I would assume that anyone who is interested in joining me, can meet up with us in the hall, or in the kitchen.

The quartet of Moeru, Shinko, and the guardsman moved through the keep, on their way to the kitchen. Hushed whispers in the halls abounded as they moved, and it would be news throughout the castle that the Dragon and Seppun were on a mission.
Through the castle the moved, until they finally came to rest in the kitchen. "It was a good thing I had company" Moeru spoke jokingly, "I would have never found this place, and I'm certain I would never get back from here." The Seppun moved to the back of the kitchen, and Shinko led Moeru to the back.
The elements shifted in the area where the death had taken place, and Moeru could sense there was something not all there with the death. It wasn't the same void of the elements associated with the Bloodspeaker puppet in court. The elements seemed to be muted in this space, as if something were deliberately casting a shadow over the area. "A peculiar place to kill a man." Moeru wondered aloud. "Can you tell me what this man was doing in the kitchen, and who else may have been here when he was killed?" Moeru questioned the guards, while trying to understand the elements.
A Guard spoke up. "He was a Crane servant, What he was doing in the kitchen at such a late hour is unknown. No one else was in the kitchen at such a late hour. He was found dead, with a tanto in his chest when they came to prepare breakfast."
Moeru nodded. "I have but two more questions. First, where is the Tanto he was killed with? I'd like to have our Tamori Shugenja inspect it, and Second.... " Moeru searched for the right words. "What makes you think that the persons responsible for this would in fact be after my dear Kitsuki?"
The Seppun guards looked at each other, afraid of how much to say. "We will get you the tanto, Togashi-san. It is..." The voice trailed a bit. "Not here currently." The other Seppun guard chimed in "But we have it!" He said quickly.
The Other guard spoke again. "And we believe, based on the pattern of murders, that the ultimate target is Kitsuki-san. The murders so far, have been people who were close to him at the Crab gala."
Moeru thought for a moment. Other murders?! his mind was beginning to race. The Lion have surely mishandled much of the security surrounding Winter Court. Even a Blind Monk could see that. "Thank you Seppun-san, Let us retrieve the Tanto, and reconvene with the Tamori."
Moeru patted Shinko's hand on his arm, and began to turn, allowing the Seppun to lead the way to wherever they had decided to store the Tanto.

The Seppun had led Moeru to a new section of the Castle. From the noise, it was evident that this was where the Seppun base of operations were run out of. The Seppun led Moeru into a room, and asked him to be seated. Shortly after, another Seppun entered the room, and sat down.
"I think the girl can wait outside." He said gruffly, with a tone that showed his indignation towards the servant girl.
Shinko began to move towards the door, and Moeru began to speak. "Seppun-san, the girl stays. I don't know if you've noticed, but" Moeru paused, and leaned closer to where the voice came from, and waved his hand in front of his face for dramatic affect. "I'm blind. If you have a problem with my personal escort being in the room, then you have nothing to discuss with me. I'll take what I came for, and leave you...." Another pause, and Moeru smirked "Protecting the court."
The air grew eerily still in the room, and the next few seconds felt like an eternity. The Seppun lept from his seat, and drew his sword, bringing the point to rest in front of Moeru's face. "I'LL NOT HAVE YOU QUESTION THE MANNER WITH WHICH WE PROTECT THIS PLACE!" The seppun roared.
Moeru never flinched, he never moved. He felt the winds change in the room from the Katana slashing through the air, but yet he remained still. Moeru sat still for a second, while the Seppun's chest heaved heavy breaths, spittle flicking out of his mouth.
After a few seconds, Moeru sighed, and spoke, his voice calm, his face betraying no emotion. "Seppun-san, you misunderstand. I am not here to heap more troubles on your like boulders crushing you from the landslide. I am here, because your guardsman tell me that the life of my Kitsuki Courtier could be in danger. I have inspected the murder scene in the Kitchen, and I was made aware that it isn't the first such scene to be discovered here since court convened. Why... It isn't even the first such scene since the end of the Crab Gala just a few nights ago."
Moeru put a hand up in front of his face, and felt the side of the katana with his hand. "If you wish to duel me, out of a perceived sleight against your honor, I fear that you have me at a decided disadvantage. You see, I am overdressed for such an occasion, and I don't have a weapon." Moeru moved his hand away from the blade, and folded it across his chest, opening the kimono a little, and revealing a slight hint of the tattoo as it cross his neck, and shoulders. "I do not wish to be the pebble that buries you from the mountainside Seppun-san. I wish to give you everything at my disposal. All of my help. But you will need to accommodate us, in what we need to do. And the first thing I need, is the Tanto that killed the unfortunate servant in the Kitchen. Any other implements you may have from other deaths, would also be appreciated."
The Seppun finally stopped his spittle flecked breathing, and sheathed his sword. "And what is it you would like to do with such things?" The Seppun asked, his voice restrained.
"I wish for my Tamori Shugenja to study it. And I'd like to have one sent to Shiba Kaigen's quarters. I'd imagine a man of his stature certainly is in the company of at least one Agasha." Moeru smiled again. "We'll find whothe weed is choking the plants in the Empress' new Garden Seppun-san." Moeru stood, and smoothed his robes. "But, if we don't get the root, Well, then it was all for naught."
Moeru held out his arm, and Shinko clasped it. "Now Seppun-san, if you wish to speak, we can speak. If you wish to give me a tanto, that would be appreciated. I would ask that the other be delivered to the Phoenix, with a request for the Agasha to inspect it."
The Seppun chuckled. "You dragon... I'll never understand you."
"You might as well try and understand how a rock speaks" Moeru replied.
The Seppun thought a moment. "Ok. Give him one, and deliver one to the Phoenix." He gestured towards one of the guards in the room.
Moeru bowed, and left the room. He waited outside, and once he had the tanto, he left, straightaway for the Dragon Quarters. The Seppun were sending one to the Phoenix Quarters, and as Shinko and Moeru left, the Seppun collapsed into a futon. Utterly baffled by the exchange that had just occured, and wondering, what in the world a blind monk would be able to do stop a murderer.
Kaigen, if you don't wish to join the thread, that's fine, I can RP out a minor Agasha who will tell me what I want to know. Not a big deal at all.

If paying attention, Moeru could hear the firm steps of one who knows exactly where is going to, then, a paradoxal and faint scent of cinnamon, and finally, the voice of Kaiu Satomi.
Exactly who I was looking for, Moeru-san. Her tone was grave, serious, but amiable.
What they are making you wait for?
She pushed away all the amenities rokugani etiquette required for a first meeting in the day, but anyway, one could think nobody is exactly "strolling idly" in the Seppun quarters. Not in a day like that.

Moeru bowed at her voice. "Greetings Kaui-san." Moeru mulled over how much to tell her, but felt confident the general was trustworthy. He leaned towards her direction. "It would seem there is an assassin in the keep, and the members of my Kitsuki brethren's retinue at your party, and their servants, have been the targets."
Moeru crossed his arms, across his chest. "The Seppun have been.... helpful, and are retrieving the tanto that dealt the fatal blow to a Crane servant last night."
Moeru paused.... "and what is it that you are doing here Kaiu-san?"

Uhn, it makes sense. Satomi pondered, I am afraid, Moeru-san, we must run against the time to catch this, or those, murderers. Other persons were already… victims of these crimes that may be targeting a Dragon Ambassador.
She took a deep breath, but kept her calm tone: My husband was attacked last night, Moeru-san. He was found under the footbridge linking the Dragon Wing and the main building, this morning. Unconscious, about to die. She whispered this last part.
In the dinner we offered, he was helping to host the some of the guests, and spent some time in the company of your clanners. I was told he had been constantly in company of the Dragons, in the following days. And I was exactly trying to talk with the Kitsuki retinue, but it seems they are a bit… indisposed today. That's when I thought you could arrange me a meeting... But it seems your clan trusted you the leading of this investigation. Which is even better. After a brief silence, she spoke:
We are seeking the same thing, Togashi-san.

Moeru Grinned. "After a Meeting of the minds with Togashi Satsu-Dono, it was made clear to me that I was his choice for such things as this." Moeru's voice sounded humble. "I am incredibly sad to hear about the state of your husband, Kaiu-san. These are troubling times."
As the tanto was given to Moeru, he bowed to the Seppun, and then turned back to Satomi. "I believe that unless you have business, we can go back to the dragon accommodations, and discuss how to find those responsible."
Satomi could see that there was a change in Moeru from the previous day. He seemed more like his former self, what she would have remembered from their time spent fighting against the Lost. As if something had been restored to him.

A boost of morale was clearly felt in Moeru's tone, which was a good thing. He was truly a good asset for his clan, and whichever the ways the Dragon had to perform such "meeting of minds", Satomi was impressed by the results.
I am glad your daimyo's plans for you are now clear in your mind, my friend. And thank you. Not everyone can survive such wounds, but may Kisada's persistance be with him. She sighed, keeping her On.
Please, Moeru-san, we can go now. I think we have much to talk. She glanced to his aide, and did not escape to her the concerned expression in the servant's face. With all the servants and samurai who knew too much, being killed in the palace, no wonder the woman was scared as hell.
It seems you are now responsible for the life of your aide, dear monk. She surely knows more than many persons in this castle.

Moeru nodded. "Indeed Satomi-san." Shinko led Moeru and Satomi towards the Dragon quarters. "She is not like many of the Dragon. And for that reason, the Dragon wish to keep her as involved as possible in the Empress' courts."
As they reached the Dragon's quarters, Moeru asked for the Tamori to come and join them. "The Tamori should be able to help us find out more about this Tanto." Moeru held out the bundle, careful to make sure that he didn't touch the weapon itself. "Tell me more about your husbands attack Satomi-san, was there anything they could tell about who could have done this?" Moeru seated himself, and the Tamori began to work over the blade with the elements.

The Kaiu woman seated herself as well, in front of the Dragon Monk. Right now, Shigekazu-san is being tended by shugenja, but they say while they don't discover what poison is... That's why I must act quickly. Now, about the facts. For what I can apprehend, he was returning from a meeting in Dragon's quarters. He was backstabbed twice while he was in the footbridge. She paused for a moment, thinking about what she saw, then resumed. He was stabbed in the upper part of his back. His hand was also slightly hurt. Whatever it was, I just presume the weapon is one of quick effect. My husband is a tall, large man. He would fight in normal conditions, but he fell from the footbridge… right in the garden. The shugenja still don't know what sort of poison it can be… Satomi cleared the throat. The Kuni didn't come to the court, and in this situation, on who else to trust? Well, maybe this tanto can be the answer...

The Tamori toiled over the blade, using incantations, and several scrolls. The blade would glow occasionally, and Moeru could even glimpse the elements change around it, as the Tamori worked.
Moeru listened to Satomi's recount of her husband, and then chimed in. "Yes, I do remember your husband being a larger than average man.. Even by Crab Standards." Moeru grinned a little at the end of the statement. "But what I can't figure out is... Why are the attacks so random? A Crane Servant, A Crab Samurai, and who knows who else?" Moeru trailed off, as he could hear something in his mind. Almost like screaming.
The Tamori gasped, and dropped the blade and began to recoil away from where it lay. The screaming in Moeru's mind seemed to be coming from the blade. "The blade speaks Togashi-san..." The Tamori's voice shaking. "It's as if..." The Tamori was trying to speak, but fear had a powerful grip on the young Shugenja. "It's as if it was bound to someone." The Tamori's voice was but a whisper now. "like the shameswords!" Her voice betrayed her terror.
Moeru kept calm, knelt down, and picked up the blade from it's spot on the ground. As he did the screaming in his head became words, and the words spoke of agony, despair, and a never ending thirst. Moeru frowned as his listened to the blade. The soul bouncing from threats of destruction aimed at Moeru, to wails of agony over it's state.
Moeru's thoughts seemed to be answered by the blade... after it had hurled a new round of threats at him at least. The blade was forged in Ryoko Owari, the samurai itself being used to treat and temper the blade. It was unclear who had created it, but in Moeru's lifetime, he had only heard of two men capable of such... horrors.
The blade continued it's pattern of assaulting Moeru's mind, giving glimpses of gruesome deaths for all in the room, Moeru included, and answering the questions. Moeru sat, for nearly an hour motionless, listening to the blade, as the Crab, and Tamori looked on. A head nod here, a sigh there were the only signs of motion that Moeru betrayed.
Satisfied he had learned all he could from the blade, Moeru called for a servant, and asked for them to find him a wooden box. As the servant left, Moeru began to speak. "It seems, that whomever is behind these attacks, has very powerful allies. This blade, has been crafted in a manner that befits only two names ever to disgrace the empire." Moeru's voice was stern. "Asahina Yajinden, a man none of has seen in a very long time." Moeru frowned. "And Kokujin. Formerly.... Togashi Kokujin." Moeru spat the name out in disgust. "Either someone else has learned the secrets of their dark arts, or one of them, is supplying our assassin with his weapons."
The servant came back into the room, with a wooden case fit for a wakizashi. The Tamori began to say that it was too big, much too big of a box. Moeru held up his hand. "It will have to do. We must seal the blade within the box until we can find an artificer capable of rendering the weapon no more." Moeru placed the blade in the box, and held it out for the Tamori.
He then stood, and began to pace. "Satomi-san. They cannot figure out the poison, because it is no poison. If it wasn't this blade that drank from him, it was another like it. I fear his wounds will be his death if we cannot destroy the blades, and destroy the assassin."

A blade as…a shamesword?! Satomi's reaction was, of course, of shock. Now she felt her hopes being drained. She wasn't woman to say things are impossible, but she felt tempted. Shamesword, Kokujin… It was just like a nightmare. Freaking out, though, wasn't helpful at all, so she tried to focus.
Are you sure, Moeru-san? The one possessing such weapon wouldn't be aiming to servants, engineers, or even diplomats… Unless they are connected to some sort of secret… Satomi stood, too excited to keep herself motionless. The one possessing such tanto…Would leave it behind, in the kitchen of the castle?
Or it has a deeper meaning?

Moeru thought about her words for a moment. There would need to be a deeper meaning to leave such an item behind. Wouldn't there? The assassin would have to know that the blade's secret wouldn't stay secret for long. "Satomi-san, I believe that it had to have been left behind on purpose. One wouldn't leave such an item without having a reason to have it discovered. And one wouldn't just happen across an item like this, out of luck." Moeru thought for a moment, and then pondered aloud. "What in the world were they discussing that could have been this damning to someone? They have surely risked quite a bit to destroy anyone who could have possibly heard what was being discussed." Moeru sounded truly confused by the turn of events. "I believe, it's time to have a chat with our friend the Kitsuki." Moeru mused. He waved in the direction of the Tamori Shugenja's Yojimbo. "I need you to find the Kitsuki Retinue. I need them brought back here. Discreetly." Moeru continued to pace. He had never understood the political entanglements of the empire. Part of him, wished they were back in the Shadowlands fighting the Lost. At least then, the enemy was clear. At least then, he knew to expect the worst. Now, his head swam. The elements were beginning to balance out to him the way they had before his elemental journey to find his champion, but that only served to confuse him more. I'm waiting to get more in depth on this until I get a pm back from the Admins about a plot hook idea. Once I have that idea, I'll advance. Satomi, feel free to respond, but as far as "the answers"... I'll update as soon as I can.

a short time later, in a meeting of Clans The Kitsuki Courtier seemed to be enjoying the day, even with a heavily armed pair of Mirumoto flanking her at ever turn. This current meeting, was between the Dragon, Unicorn, and Phoenix, looking at ways to shore up the northern and western borders of the empire, in a cooperative measure.
The talks had been cagey between the Phoenix and the Dragon, as there was little resolution to the matter of Southdown Abbey, and the Phoenix were trying to use it as leverage in the bargaining.
The Kitsuki seemed unphased by the Phoenix barbs. And as progress began to take shape, a gentle knock came at the door.
The Mirumoto Samurai flanked the door, and one of the servants opened it. The Yojimbo assigned to the Tamori Shugenja stood on the other side of the door, bowed, and stepped in. "Kitsuki-sama, I apologize for the intrusion...."
The Kitsuki frowned, and walked towards the Yojimbo, speaking in an angry whisper. "You should be. Do you have ANY idea how close to finally reaching a conclusion on this I am?!" The Kitsuki seemed angrier than what most had remembered her temperament to normally show, The Yojimbo chalked it up to the stress of the deaths surrounding her, and the apparent mark on her life.
The Yojimbo bowed again, his face apologetic. "Please know Kitsuki-sama, that I would not interrupt had Togashi-sama not sent me for you personally. There has been new information brought to light." The Yojimbo's voice seemed slightly optimistic.
The Kitsuki's face changed, losing all emotion, and she stood a little stiffer. "Well then, I'll be ready momentarily." She turned, and looked back at the assembled Unicorn and Phoenix and bowed.
"Forgive me Noble Unicorn, Esteemed Phoenix. It appears that an urgent Clan matter requires my appearance. I wish that I could decline, but it's a matter of life and death." The Kitsuki's voice emphasized the last two words, in an odd way, that unsettled the room. "If we could resume these meetings later this evening, I believe that we can finalize this deal, and ensure peace, and stability throughout the northern and western borders of Rokugan."
The Kitsuki bowed again, collected her personal effects, and followed the Yojimbo, the two Mirumoto in lockstep behind her. As they walked to the Dragon Quarters, the Kitsuki fiddled with the sleeves of her Kimono, her expression absent, and her face showing no sign of her mood.
AS they reached the Dragon Quarters, the Kitsuki was surprised to see The Crab General in company with the monk. Her face went pale. "Is it true? Was your husband truly attacked Satomi-san?" Her voice was a little excited and nervous sounding. "I had heard rumors, but couldn't believe it to be true."
Moeru turned to face the Kitsuki. The elements whirled oddly in that direction. Moeru felt uneasy, but was unable to be certain if there was a problem, or he was still recovering from the effects of his meeting with Satsu-dono.

Satomi shifted uncomfortably. She never mentioned to anyone outside her clan, that was a Crab servant the one who found Shigekazu in the garden. That she was the first person to know about it, and she did everything within her reach to make it secret. After her meeting in the Unicorn quarters, Satomi had a meeting with her family daimyo, and Shizekazu's presence was required regarding technical details of an engineering project. She asked to a servant to find her husband, and that's how they found him under the footbridge. My husband, Kitsuki-san? Attacked?
Not that she couldn't have means to know such thing... She could have witnessed the crime from a priviledged point but... but if she did, why the Dragons would let him die there...alone? The woman got pale in her presence, why? What was she afraid of? Satomi stepped forward, invading the Kitsuki's personal space and being as intimidating as if she was dealing with a Damned soldier: Lady Kitsuki, I wonder how you can know such thing? There's no means of anyone else to know about it. Unless... this person was there in the right moment. If it's a rumor, I command you to say who said it to you. And I'll tell you, I can smell a liar a mile afar...
Whatever was the price to pay for her insolence, she thought it was worth to pay.
