And so it was that Chisato went looking for even more trouble. Well, to be precise, he went looking for Kuon. He hoped the man was still in town actually, and in Chisato's usual fashion, he follows protocol to the letter, and tries to request a meeting with the Shogun. Hoping that his offer of gratitude and friendship still held true.
Chisato traveled about the castle, making himself available to any who wished to see him, but hoping that Kuon would avail himself to Chisato's important questions. Chisato was not alone of course, at either side were his karo, Asako Megumi, and his chief protector Shiba Odo who moonlights as an amateur nokodo on behalf of his mother from time to time.

Posting as Hida Kuon, the ShogunLater on the day, one of the Shogun's personal aides announced the Kuon's intention of receiving the Asako daimyo for a brief conversation, before the military head of the Empire should travel east for a parley with the Empress Toturi II. The Unicorn was ready to accompany the Asako daimyo to where their meeting should take place. He was waiting the Phoenix retinue in the Watchtower of the East, a place Chisato had the opportunity to visit when in company of the former General of the Army of the East. It was supposed to be the new quarters of Yasuki Kaneka, though he, too, was absent, having left the Crab lands in a haste after the tragic incident in the day of his own wedding. The windy evening was quite uncomfortable, but after a brief moment to refresh themselves from the quick travel between Yasuki Yashiki and the Fortress, the Phoenix group was admitted to the same room once Asako Chisato played cards to "Kaiu" Satomi. The ambient now was more to the liking of General Yasuki Kaneka, although some of the elegant former furniture and paneling was left behind by its former inhabitant. Hida Kuon was accompanied by part of his personal staff and sported a quite somber look, reinforced by all the traditional rokugani symbols of mourning, which were shared by his advisors as well. The Shogun seemed a bit thoughtful, while rubbing his callous and big hands on the leather involving his favored warhammer's handle. His other hand was loosely holding a semi emptied cup of sake, partially forgotten while his eyes seemed lost in thoughts. He ignored the arrival of the group for a moment, collecting himself from whatever he was thinking, and then put his gaze on the Asako daimyo, a questioning look in his face.

The three Phoenix bowed in unison, and Chisato was the first to speak, "Glorious Shogun, thank you for receiving me on such, uh, short notice. I know you are a busy man."
He gingerly places his book on the floor and opens it up, nothing relevant to the conversation they were about to have had been written yet. "Hida sama, I had a discussion with Satomi san the other day and I uh. Well," he clears his throat, "She saw fit to tell me that you may have-..." he looks about the room and decides maybe he shouldn't speak with so many present.
"May we speak alone?" Chisato dismisses his two Phoenix. Odo departs slowly, not wanting to leave Chisato unprotected near such a powerful warrior.

The Shogun looked askance to the his advisor nearby, and then replied, his voice as always thundering in the ambient. Uhn… Bayushi Satomi-san told you something? That's a surprise. I thought you weren't much a friend of hers. But yes, whatever, let's talk in private. Soon only the two men remained in the room.

Chisato avoided the remark about friendship, and decided to cut to the chase, "Ah, ok, well. She told me that you have a son? Takai san?"

Hida Kuon played with his mustache for a moment, before questioning: What else she told you?

He gives a nervous and terrified laugh, "That she wants to kill me if I ever marry?"

He raised an eyebrow as if doubting he had listened it correctly, then laughed resoundingly, at the absurdity of the statement: Well, and why would she care about that?

The Shogun huffed: I'm not a nakodo nor the Champion of your clan, I can't help you with your matchmaking dilemmas, Asako-san. About the other matter, is that all what she said to you? About my son Takai?

Not so fast, Asako-san. The Shogun leaned forward, the big hammer between his legs and its handle firmly clasped by his hands. I am the one interested about your insistence in meddling in the Crab succession. First, Satomi-san, now, my son Takai. What is this? Forgive my bluntness, and consider my next question apart my gratitude for your help regarding the ...kolat incident. But why should it be a Phoenix business?

He opens his mouth and shuts it again, not sure how to answer. "Its Crab business, of course... but-... uh, there has never been a succession crisis like this that I am aware of in the history of the Hida family... I want to make sure that this is done right... thats all."
He shies slightly, "Uh... proper."

Want it done right, uhn? So, what do you think about the possibility of my son Takai, born outside a proper marriage, to be the next Crab champion? Kuon questioned, his dark eyes scrutinizing Chisato's expressions.

"Well... since the legitimization of Kaneka by Toturi the first, it set a precedent across the empire that so long as the child is legitimized... they can inherit. So... Takai could be champion when he comes of age. Its similar to how I became the daimyo of my family..."
